ALP at CCBC Goes Full Scale!

Our new integrated reading and writing co-requisite model finally brings ALP to full scale at CCBC.

A Big Announcement as a headline on a newspaper with picture of words breaking through glass reading This is BigHere’s why:

  • In the original ALP model, students with a developmental reading placement were required to take a stand-alone reading class concurrently with ALP. This added up to 10 total credits.
  • This meant that most, if not all, of our part-time students with both reading and writing developmental placements were not able to take ALP; the total number of credits was too high.
  • ACLT 053, the new integrated reading and writing course, allows students who have developmental placements in both areas to complete their developmental requirements while taking ALP.
  • Students with lower-level reading and/or writing placements will take ACLT 052, a stand-alone integrated reading and writing class.
